MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY

Mission Statement

Provide a Christ-Centered foundation for students to demonstrate distinction in academics, leadership and fitness of mind, body and spirit..

Statement of Philosophy

Woodlawn Christian is a traditional school appealing to parents who seek a proven curriculum for their child's education and a school that develops the practical skills their child will need in the challenging 21st century. A positive, safe, drug-free, nurturing climate enhances learning by establishing and maintaining a high level of academic and behavior expectations. Woodlawn Christian provides a single location for parents to provide the essential academic, social and physical skills.

Woodlawn students are provided with a warm, nurturing environment which promotes student responsibility, cooperation, high-level thinking, creativity and the respect for individual differences. The A Beka Curriculum is utilized because it concerns itself with the whole child, encouraging positive individual characteristics as well as a strong interrelationship among the subject areas. Woodlawn Christian students not only have high academic standards, but high behavioral standards as well. Students respect each other, their parents and the community, are ready to learn, put forth their best efforts and participation and learn to handle their problems and take responsibility for their own actions.

Woodlawn Christian staff members model an attitude of cooperation and open communication with all members of the Community. They demonstrate a commitment and concern for all children and facilitate student learning through their unique skills and talents by creating a dynamic learning environment. They provide students with a strong academic foundation that promotes cooperation, higher level thinking, problem solving and life-long learning.

Woodlawn parents are involved and aware of their child's academic and social progress and send their children to school prepared to learn. They reinforce the development of their child's self-responsibility and model an attitude of open cooperation and communication with all members of the community.
